Typically around here we hit the ground running. Everyone wakes up screaming and yelling (in a good way...mostly) and running. I can always tell when the kids are awake by the house-shaking thumps I hear coming from downstairs. I like to wake up slowly, but this will not be an option for me for about, oh...18 years. *sob*
Typically part two, Billy never is off. And when he is? It's Sunday and how did it get to be Sunday again and we are already late for church OHMUHGOSH. Today he was "off" until he had to work (makes sense...to no one. Especially tired CFA widow) from 5pm - close. We had a Cracker Barrel gift card that led to: I'm not cooking breakfast or lunch so lets have brunch with the munchkins and kill two meals with one gift card. It was pretty nice. Other than Jericho eating all my pancakes and pretty much the table, and Merrick knocking over something filled with water in the gift shop area and soaking himself and the surrounding counties. At least whatever he knocked over was plastic. I don't think the gift card had gift shop incident coverage.

Long Time Coming
Happy first day of Spring, everyone! I've been waiting to say those words since the first day of Fall, I think. ;) We enjoyed a fancy meal of McD's on the porch yesterday in honor of the fabulous weather. I do hear rumors of more bad weather coming, but at least we had 65 degrees and sunny to hold us over for a bit should that be the case. Happy Spring!

The J-Hawk
I'm sure you've all seen the ever-annoying Harlem Shake. Jericho decided he would start his own dance craze. I think it's way cuter. ;)

It was going so well...
Yesterday started off on the right foot. I was doing a great job of getting errands done while not harming any children in the process. We went to the bank, the gym, the grocery store, etc. We even swung by daddy's store and got some nuggets to keep the hoodlums from eating items I hadn't bought yet in the store. Ok, they still ate items I hadn't bought yet, but I paid for them in the end. So what.
We finished up our shopping and came home for naps. I put Tizzy in her room, gave J a cup of milk before his nap, and got Merrick settled on the couch with a movie so I could get a shower and get ready to head to my mom's. That's about the time I heard a noise upstairs. I assumed Jericho's door had swung open as usual (the door frame is warped a bit and the door won't stay shut sometimes) and went up to close it. I not only found his door open, but I found items strewn all over the upstairs, and no baby in the crib.
My first thought was, "how in the world did he get out of his crib?!" My next thought was, "I never actually put him IN his crib. Oops." I had given him his milk, he had crawled up the stairs while I was getting the other two settled, and in a flourish of mother-of-the-year-worthy memory lapse, I'd forgotten he wasn't taking a nap. I was just a little horrified. I never forget anything, and I'd just forgotten there was a kid on the loose. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I guess at least I didn't leave him at the grocery store. ;)

Smile-Inducing
We've had some pretty awesome Spring-ish weather around here the last few days. I'm simultaneously bracing myself for the next blast of cold (while secretly hoping it doesn't happen) and soaking up the 60 degree temps.
We've played outside, skipped naps, met new friends in our little "neighborhood", and already scraped a few layers off of our knees (both kids) in true celebration of Spring.
Speaking of new friends, I wasn't aware there were many other kids near us. But randomly yesterday a little girl from a few houses over showed up out of nowhere. She is a nervy little lady who invited herself right into the house, asked for a snack and a tour and generally kept the kids entertained for an hour or so. I was kind of thinking I'd unintentionally inherited another child, when finally her father came looking for her. The kids are already wondering when they can play again. ;)
This weather is definitely smile-inducing, as you can see. I believe Merrick's address for the next few months will probably be the tree in the front yard.
