Incognito

Those mustaches? Brought to you by spinach. Yes, I said spinach. As in Popeye. I got this recipe for a smoothie called The Green Monster from my cousin who saw it on the linked blog, and heard rumors that it tastes really good.

I tried it myself, decided it was really good, and figured I could pull a fast one on the hooligans. One point for mommy...since they guzzled actual food that is green. Ya know, not counting froot loops. They were convinced it was a green milkshake. What they don't know wont hurt them, right? Especially in this case.

It also has yogurt, soy milk, banana and a little peanut butter in it...so it doesn't taste like grass despite what I was afraid of. It tastes like peanut butter and banana mostly, both on the short list of hooligan-approved foods. The kiddos even had fun helping me make it, and didn't seem to make the connection that the leaves (spinach) in the blender were, in fact, in their milkshake.

I think this "drinking your veggies" thing could become a habit with my picky kiddos. Anybody got any good recipes for this type of thing that you've used to trick your children into eating something besides a chicken nugget?

Tempermental

We have had the weirdest weather this Winter. It's been really unseasonably warm, about which I am not complaining. But this past week the trees started blooming, which is one of my absolute favorite things, and it snowed, all in the same few days.

It was kind of weird to see the snow on the ground and the blooms on the trees. But it was really pretty at the same time. The snow didn't last long, and the trees are probably glad that little incident is over.

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year...when everything is so new and colorful and fresh. My husband probably doesn't agree, as he's already started the annual sneeze-fest. I have him taking fish oil, in hopes that we will all be able to get through the Spring with smiles on our faces. ;)

Reality TV

Anyone wanna take a guess what this is about?

Camera Roll-1218

These are items we found in my daughters nose, and the tweezers we had to use to get them out. We had all been munching on popcorn when she came up to us and said, "Look! I hab two ub dem, Daddy!" Also, she obviously can't count yet. I really thought kids only did that on TV. When will I ever learn?

ReallyStupidVirus

So recently we all have contracted the cold that never ends. Thankfully me as Tizzy don't seem to have it too bad, but the guys are taking it pretty hard. Even Jericho has been coughing so bad we finally took him to the doctor.

The Doctor diagnosed him with RSV, and gave him a nebulizer. It is pretty much the saddest thing I've ever seen, him with that little mask on. Probably second only to the time Tizzy was hospitalized with Pertussis. Germs are jerks, huh?

I'm hoping that we all get healthied-up soon. Billy is feeling pretty miserable. Any prayers would be much appreciated. It could definitely be worse I know, so I'm grateful it's not. But coughing your head off does kind of put a damper on things.

We started taking elderberry hoping it'll help our immune systems a bit. Anyone have any other immune boosting advice? I'd probably try just about anything to kick a germ's butt about now. ;)

Deck Chalk

This past week (before all the tornado business, that is, that included torrential rain) we had what I call "they aren't even asking to watch TV" weather. The kiddos were outside for hours, and so was I.

They spent time coloring with sidewalk chalk and blowing bubbles. These fun items came in a box from a friend of mine this past week, and little did she know she would make their week. This was their first experience with sidewalk chalk, and it was definitely a big hit. (Even though they seemed to prefer coloring on the deck?)

We drew everything from cousins to spiderman. And blew bubbles in between the creation of said pieces of art. We even let daddy in on the fun when he got home from work. Looking forward to many more days this Spring that look like this...
